This is an introductory welding class hosted in Plympton, MA
Wednesday, April 30th, 2025
6 p.m. - 10 p.m. (4 hr class)
Cost: $200 (4 hr), includes materials and PPE
Woman And Machine is holding an ‘Intro to MIG Welding' welding class on Wednesday evening, April 30, 2025 starting at 6 p.m. at Karen Sullivan’s home shop in Plympton.
To give our participants the most amount of ‘rod time’, we can accept a maximum of 6 students. This is a Co-Ed Class so both ladies and gentlemen are welcome to attend!
There will be a wait-list so if the class is sold out and you are still interested in possibly attending, please sign up for the waitlist and we will notify those on the wait-list if an opening becomes available.

We will cover various aspects of MIG welding over the course of the evening with about 1 hour dedicated to classroom time to review how the machine works, set-up, basics of welding, etc.
What You Will Learn:
Safety for welders
Basics of the weld machine and various components of the welder
How to properly set-up a welder
Welding steel in the Flat, Horizontal
Proper techniques for welding "tee", "lap", "corner", and "butt" joints
Welding defects; causes and cures
Important:
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can start promptly at the designated time.
We will provide safety gear (welding jacket, gloves, hood) but if you have your own gear feel free to bring it to the class!
Wear work boots, a pair of jeans that you do not mind getting dirty, and a 100% cotton shirt (this is all for your safety and protection, if you are not dressed appropriately you will not be able to participate in the class).
If you have medium to long hair, bring a hair tie to pull your hair back or already have your hair tied back.

This class is a metal art class located in Plympton, Massachusetts:
Saturday, May 10th from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
*Cost: $175 or $195, includes materials and PPE
*cost difference is based on whether you would like to make 3 flowers ($175) or a rose and 2 additional flowers ($195). Making the rose is time intensive and a little more involved in making than some of the other flower options which is the cost difference. You may also be at the workshop for an additional hour if you decide to make a rose
I will be able to take 4 students, with a minimum of 3 necessary to run the class. I will be in contact to let you know if the class will be run or not 24 hours prior, an option will be given to move to another art class given later in the year or a refund will be given if you choose not to.
For class we will be reviewing various metal working fundamentals to create the metal flowers.
Flower options, you will be asked which you would like to make in an email prior to class:

This is a longer class but the pieces are pre-selected for you to create.

This is an introduction to metal art weekend class hosted in Plympton, MA
May 17 - 18, 2025
Day 1: May 17, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Day 2: May 18, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Cost: $500, includes materials and PPE
This is an introduction to metal art course that leads you through how to make metal art on your own. Participants will be exposed to numerous metal working tools and work in-depth with them to get comfortable enough to make their own piece of art on Day 2.
The class is able to host a maximum of 5 students, with a minimum of 3 necessary to run the class. Woman And Machine will be in contact to let you know if the class will be able to run 24 hours prior. An option will be given to move to another art class scheduled later in the year or a refund can be issued.

Woman And Machine is holding a beginner 6 week welding program on Wednesday nights starting TBD from 6 p.m - 9 p.m. at Karen Sullivan’s home shop in Plympton.

We will cover various aspects of MIG welding over the course of the program with about 1 hour dedicated to classroom time to review more in-depth information about setting the welder appropriately, basics of fabrication, small weld projects, etc. Come ready to learn and weld!

*For this program I do highly suggest that you purchase your own hood and gloves but is not necessary to come to class.

Looking to learn welding but not in a group setting? Private lessons are available to be scheduled for weekdays/weekends - as long as availability allows. You can decide which process of welding you would want to learn as well (MIG or TIG).
Cost: $125/hr, includes materials and PPE
Private lessons can be scheduled for 2 - 3 hour time slots. It is necessary that you schedule for at least 2 hours worth of time for welding to get the most out of your time.

How to properly set-up a welder

*lessons are tailored to the student’s desired process of welding and end goal

Metal Art Kits
Anyone want to have some fun in the garage and create some roses? This is your chance to be able to make a metal rose yourself. By making the rose yourself you can add your own flair to it and it makes a great gift to someone special.
